KSITM Unveils Key Resolutions to Propel Innovation and Excellence

The Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management (KSITM) has announced a series of transformative resolutions aimed at establishing the institution as a hub for academic excellence and technological innovation in Northern Nigeria. During a press briefing held at the KSITM auditorium, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Engr. Muttaqa Rabe Darma, highlighted strategic initiatives to position the institute among the nation's leading polytechnics within the next two years.
Key Highlights from the Governing Council Meeting
1.Hosting International Conferences
KSITM aims to become a global academic player by hosting the first International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in STEM Education in collaboration with Al-Qalam University and the Katsina State Directorate of ICT. Scheduled for April 2025, this conference will reinforce the institute's commitment to advancing science, technology, and education.
2.Directorate of Skills Development and Community Services
The council approved the establishment of a new Directorate to equip students with essential technical and soft skills, aligning with KSITM's goal of producing graduates who excel in both knowledge and character. Partnerships with state and federal organizations are also underway to bolster community development initiatives.
3.Addressing Leadership Vacancies
To ensure seamless leadership transitions, Dr. Hindatu Salisu Abubakar, the Deputy Rector, will serve as Acting Rector upon the vacancy of the current rector's position on December 12, 2024. Recruitment for this role and other vacant positions, including the Bursar, will conclude on December 20, 2024.
4. Promotions and Workforce Development
The council approved the promotion of 17 academic staff and 16 non-academic staff members, reflecting its commitment to recognizing excellence and fostering a motivated workforce.
5.Enhancing Financial Sustainability
A committee, led by Professor Mukhtar El-Kasim, has been formed to explore strategic partnerships and collaborations, ensuring financial stability and supporting long-term institutional growth.
6.Staff and Student Development
Regularly updated development programs have been introduced to enhance both staff and student capabilities, fostering continuous learning and innovation.
7.Council Standing Orders
The adoption of comprehensive standing orders will strengthen institutional governance and promote transparency, inclusivity, and ethical leadership.
Engr. Darma reiterated the council's commitment to transforming KSITM into a world-class institution that fosters innovation and societal development. "Together, we will make KSITM a beacon of excellence in Northern Nigeria and beyond," he stated.
The initiatives, approved during the council’s meeting from November 29 to November 30, 2024, underscore KSITM’s forward-thinking vision and dedication to academic and technological advancement.
